Redwood Regional Challenge Service Project and Hike

On Dec 8th the troop performed a 4 hour service project at Sonoma Valley Regional Park clearing blackberries from a stream bed by the parking lot.  We trimmed about a football field's worth of vines and chopped them into mulch.

Afterwards we did the RRC hike.  This was fantastic as it starts on the paved trails and then takes off on a dirt trail into the oak woodlands.

We were joined by 4 Cub Scouts from Pack 134 and 333.

On the way and when we finished we found two geocaches!  The second one we found had a travel bug in it!!!!  We will have to plan on stashing that travel bug when we go on another outing soon.

Participants: Brian, Matt, Owen, Bryce, Joey, Devon, Joseph, James, Donte, Gerrit

Leaders:  Mrs. Lara, Mr. Franceschi, Mr. Baier, Mr. Polkinghorn

Lesons Learned:  SVRP is a beautiful place!  Well worth the effort to visit.  The hike is 3 miles and so is perfect for Cub Scouts. If we go again we should use the handicap access picnic site if it's available.  Geocaching is FUN!
